Zoids ZERO

The Chaotic Centuries of the planet Zi have long since passed, disappearing into the pages of history.Zoids, once instruments of war and destruction now find a place in a new order - the main vehicles for a battling competition. Originally the means by which ruthless groups looked to gain power and control, Zoid battling is now an official sport established by the Zoid Battle Commission, which solidified the rules of combat, set up leagues and events, and now actively enforces the rules of engagement. Teams of Zoid pilots battle each other to become the top dog in the leagues, and the Blitz Team is preparing to rise to the challenge with the help of a pair of newcomers: Bit Cloud and his unpredictable Zoid Liger Zero. Yet while the Zoid Battle Commission developed the competition into a practical sport, chaos and danger still roam the battlefields; Such as the infamous Backdraft Group, a rogue Zoids organization out for personal gains and power, hearkening back to the competition's original roots. Now Bit Cloud and the Blitz team have to claw their way to the top - taking down official opponents and the dubious Backdraft Group in the process.

Zoids Zero premiered Monday November, 5th 2001 at 5pm (ET), and polorized the Toonami viewing audience. Many were entertained by it's battle centric nature (more popularized in the block by the likes of the Dragon Ball franchise); while others detested its simplistic plot and shallow characters. This polarization increased when Zoids Chaotic Century aired with a completely different feel and approach to the universe of Zoids. Unfortunetly neither seem to have been rather large hits for Toonami, or even Cartoon Network in general. Zoids Zero was rotated on and off the Toonami block as well as general Cartoon Network for quite some time before disappearing into the woodwork like all shows eventually do. It was preceeded by Zoids Fuzors, which debuted on the network's short lived 'Saturday' block in 2003 - which also did not fare well for the network.
