It's the 1870’s, a restoration period for Japan. A mysterious red haired assassin named Kenshin, also known as the Battousai wanders the land. After tragedy strikes a deadly blow to Kenshin he vows never to kill again and decides to go live in solitude in an unknown location. However, over time circumstances change and Kenshin must once again reveal himself to the public, helping to defend Japan against anyone who would disrupt the peace and betterment of the island nation.
Rurouni Kenshin premiered March 17, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. on Toonami. The series had been rumored for the block for quite some time, so it was quite a treat when it was finally announced. An AOL Chat interview with 'TOM' told viewers that Kenshin had been on William Street's sights for many years.
