Cardcaptors
Sakura was just an ordinary fourth grader, concerning her life with little more than boys and school. By chance of fate, one day she stumbles across a mysterious book in her father's library. Opening it, Sakura accidentally scatters the magic cards within it all around the world, each a living breathing entity of its own, each with its own magic powers. Kerobus, a fierce and mighty 1-foot-tall teddy bear with wings who was also released from the book, instructs Sakura that it's now her responsibility to find each and every card before havoc ensues. Now Young Sakura must rescue the world by ridding it of the cards she unwillingly unleashed upon it, making friends and finding enemies along the way.
Premiering on Monday, June 4th 2001 at 5PM(EST), Cardcaptors came under critically skepticism by Toonami faithful for being part of the KidsWB/Toonami merge; helmed by then public enemy number one Jamie Kellner. Before it's extremely brief stint on Toonami, CardCaptors aired as part of KidsWB's Saturday morning line-up, can continued to do such even after it left the Toonami block.
Despite being on the block for a brief amount of time (June 4th - 22nd), CardCaptors has the pleasure of being one of the few Toonami shows that is targeted at girls, the first being the mega-popular Sailor Moon. The show even was one of the select few that graced the silver screens as part of a Toonami advertisement campaign in which a promotion for Toonami ran in select theaters across the states.
