Big O
Paradigm City, the city of amnesia. Forty years ago a cataclysmic event caused its citizens to loose their memories. Its survivors struggled to rebuild, not only the city, but their lost memories. Thinking he's taking a normal job offer; Roger Smith, Paradigm's Negotiator, finds himself wrapped up in a complicated and confusing fight for memories and an explanation to the amnesia that shrouds the city. With the assistance of his powerful Megadeus, 'Big O', Roger must now solve the mystery of Paradigm, foil criminal plots, please clientele, and resolve the mysterious connection to the events of 40 years ago and his own role of 'Dominuse of the Megadeus'. Unfortunately for him, he's not the only one looking for answers...
Big O debuted on Toonami, April 2nd 2001. The series almost immediately garnered itself a fan base, most of which loved the noir visuals and mysterious story. The series is often called Japan's Batman, for the obvious similarities, both in style and character-likeness. The show ended it's run on Toonami with the last episode (At the time) 'RD', a large cliffhanger. Huge fan support in the states had Cartoon Network co-produce another season of the series which was aired in 2003 on Adult Swim.

- The Big O’s popularity in America actually helped save the show in Japan, where it was originally considered to be a ratings failure.
- Cartoon Network helped fund the second season of The Big O, which aired exclusively on Adult Swim. It slips in and out of the schedule from time to time.
- Reportedly Cartoon Network had the option to order an additional season of Big O, bringing the series season total to three. They however have long since passed, citing disappointing ratings following season 2's run.
- At one point Big O aired on the Japanese Cartoon Network’s Toonami block, along side North American shows like Justice League, ReBoot, and Spawn.
- Many of the animators that worked on Batman: The animated series were from Sunrise studios in Japan. The influence that series had on them would later become apparent when they worked on a Big O
- Big O's liquidy opening is a nod to the opening credits of the Japanese sci-fi TV classic, "Urutora sebun"
- The Background music is based on the score from A UK science-fiction series named "UFO".
- The opening theme is inspired by Queen's "Flash!" from the 1980 film Flash Gordon
- Each of the Bigs in the Big O are representative of one of three legendary monsters from Hebrew stories. Big O is the ground monster Behemoth, Big Duo is the sky dragon Ziz, and Big Fau is the water beast Leviathan.
