Toonami: Absolution NeXt September 26th, 2006

Frequently Asked Questions

People will always have questions, so we try our best to come up with answers! Below is a great number of questions we are asked on a regular basis. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to head on over to the contact section and ask us!

Who are you?
Lord, this question could be answered in a bunch of ways! My name is Cody, but around the Internet I'm mostly known as Discloner. I've been a Toonami fan since early 1998, not necessarily a seasoned Toonami fan but a fan none-the-less. My enjoyment for the block lead me to creating my first web site The Absolution II. The block is really responsible for getting me into web design and development. I've since got my associates in Multimedia and Web Development and am currently attending a University to get my bachelors in Studio art. On my off time I work on this site and help admin over at Animation Insider.

Who's Preston? Why do you hate him?
Preston is my co-pilot, He runs this site with me. Preston and myself always dog each other, but the reality of the situation is that he's a great guy. He's just as lazy as I am, but two lazy people isn't nearly as lonely as one lazy person.

What is Toonami?
Toonami is Cartoon Network's Action/Adventure block which focuses mainly on the boys 9-14 demographic. Through airing a variety of shows from all over the globe (most notably Anime), Toonami is one of oldest and strongest action blocks around. It kicked off on March 17, 1997 at 4 PM (EST) and was the fourth incarnation of the Super Adventures action afternoon franchise. Originally the block was hosted by Moltar of Space Ghost fame, but later Tom and his following reincarnations would take over the block.

Who is the Host and what is He?
Toonami's host is good old TOM, or Toonami Operations Module. He's a Artificial Intelligence robot who along with his navigator Sarah, an AI Computer system, broadcast Toonami through out the universe using their ship The Absolution. Over the course of Toonami’s history the block has had several different hosts. They first started off with Space Ghost’s Moltar broadcasting the shows from his control room on the Ghost Planet (And his sidekick Clyde 49). Then Tom took the reigns piloting The Absolution. A year or two later, Tom 2 in the wake Tom 1's destruction, along with Sara. After about two years of Tom 2 hosting, he was reinvented into Tom 3 and is currently the host who runs the block.

What is Anime?
Anime is a type of animation that comes from Japan. Tenchi Muyo!, DBZ, Big O, Zoids, and Gundam, Naruto, One Piece, and a heck of a lot more are all different Anime series that Toonami has aired over the years. However, Toonami is not all anime; it also has action/ adventure cartoons from all over the world and doesn't just limit itself to Anime in general. Anime does however take up a large portion of the Toonami library.

What is Toonami: Absolution NeXt or ANX?
Toonami: Absolution NeXt (or ANX for short) is a Toonami fan site, who's goal is to bring you the most up-to-date Toonami news and information on its shows. It's a database of sorts. Using the latest news, interactive elements, and the Toonami fan base, ANX helps show people the great world of Toonami and give them information on its shows. Its also the relaunch of my previous site The Absolution II.

What's your goal?
To follow the Toonami block, comment on how we can persevere it's direction, and keep a detailed log of the shows it's brought to US airways. Its a simple dream for simple people.

There's a Button on your site that says 'the code', what's that?
The Code is a section where I express my creative side...well kind of. Truth be told I've never much known what to do with the code section; but in the same breath I can't bring myself to vanquish it from the site - as it's the last remaining thread that ties ANX to it's original incarnation, The Absolution II. With this relaunch we're setting the code section up as a place for voices. Much unlike the proverbial wind tunnel most Message Boards are, we're hoping the code section will give people a nice quiet place to write down their opinions in the form of an article for all to see. Right now it's kind of an experiment; and I'm not entirely sure if people will take advantage of it, but I'm hoping it's something that takes off. If you'd like to write a Toonami related article for 'The Code' section, please read our guidelines listed in that section and e-mail us your article. After Preston or myself review it we'll decide if it's material we'd like to put up on our site.

Can you please put [Show A] on and take off crappy [Show B]?
We are NOT the official Toonami site. We have absolutely NO say in what gets on the air, stays on the air, and is no longer on the air. The official Toonami site doesn't have a contact section or Message board, but if you would like to Contact Cartoon Network regarding the placement of a show please go here. Otherwise you can DISSCUSS the adding or removal of a show on our forums here.

I've got FanArt! What do I do?
If It meets our guidelines send it to us! Our Fan Art guidelines are listed within that section, along with an e-mail address to which you should send the art. We're really hoping to improve this section, so don't be shy. We want to expand our collection!

Boom Shaka Locka!
Locka locka shoom!

Why is there a FAQ section? Isn't most of this common sense?
You'd be very surprised. A great example is the number of E-mails I receive asking why I took off [show A], when it clearly states on the contact page that my site is NOT the official site. Regardless, people always love their information stream-lined. We're just setting up simple answers - if things interest you, the rest of the site goes into much more detail.

How come you have only a few Toonami shows with they're own pages?
I think we have a little more then a few! Making those pages is a HUGE pain in the butt! First you've got to write a synopsis. Then you've got to go find ALL the episode titles and numbers. Next you've got to write at least 5 paragraphs of bios. THEN you've got to go our and search long and hard for the voice actors (which is by no means an easy task). You've also got to look to see if any of the Voice Actors have web sites of they're own. Next you've got to find all these little tidbits that you otherwise may have not known and include the company who owns the rights to the show. Needless to say this takes a lot of time and a heck of a lot of effort, only to be supplemented by our already busy and hectic lives. Because of this we're taking our time putting these pages up as not to get burnt out. Don't worry though, they're are getting done and eventually all will be up and completed! You can help us out by sending us information on any given show though!

I have Wallpaper you can use! What do I do?!
See the Fan Art question and do the same thing.

Where can I find more info on Toonami?
There are a lot of Toonami Fan sites out there, but only a few have recently been updated. Your best news source for Toonami would probably be here at ANX or at The X Bridge, and of course there is Toonami’s official site at Toonami.com. Toonami Infolink also frequently updates as they are a headline site and message boards.

Who is Code?
Code is an icon from the first launch of my site when it was called The Absolution II. After moving over to Animation Insider I abandoned the Code Idea, but didn't want to abandon him entirely. After all, he was the Icon of the site! So now 'the code' is dedicated to him. There was an attempt to move him over here to ANX when we first started out, but that idea never got off the ground.

Don't you run the Absolution II?
Actually, you're at the Absolution II already! Let me explain: Yes, I ran a site called the Absolution II for about 3 or 4 years, but when Animation Insider asked to host me I rethought the concept of my site (with some help of course) and decided I was going to take the 'Next' step in the revolution. Tacking a 2 at the end of The Absolution did nothing for my site. Besides sequels are hardly ever better then the first! So yes, I run the Absolution II - but it's merely a previous version of ANX.

Can I send you a link to my site?
In the past I had said no; but quite frankly I have no idea why I adopted this policy. If you think your site fits in with the content of my site, feel free to send me a link; I'd be glad to check your site out and if I agree - link to it. Please view the contact page to ensure your e-mail gets read!

What are all these damned Abbreviations?
The Internet is full of abbreviations, to list them all would be a web site in itself! If there is any particular abbreviation which we use here that confuses you - please e-mail me so I can clarify. My goal is to make everything easily accessible and understandable to everyone, and if it's not that is something I need to fix.
